OK. I’ll record something this weekend for you. Lower your expectations. Lower… a LITTLE lower. OK. That should do. Stay tuned.

1. Being alive is a mystery. Fantastic. There is so much we don’t know. That’s what’s exciting. The POTENTIAL to LEARN.
2. Being dead is a mystery. But more of a dark, scary unknown kind of mystery.
3. People have a hard time with change. Politics… we have the knowledge, resources and ability to completely solve so many problems (hunger, disease, etc.) and we just cannot do what’s necessary to make it happen.
4. The idea of shopping and politics both make me dissolve into a mental semi coma. Just not my favorite things.
5. I am getting my body into a good, fit shape. I’m just recently considering that maybe I should try out meditation… It seems boring, on the one hand, but it also seems like it might be really cool, if I could just get into it. Figure it out. Maybe.

Can you sing?

Yes, I was 2nd tenor in this barbershop quartet (we stuck together for a couple of years). It was a lot of fun. I was in several choirs in high school too. But these days, I sing to the steering wheel mostly.

If 10 people drew this on paper, we’d have 10 different pictures. But of the same thing. Interpretation, experience, expectations… and other filters effect the way we see the world. Even when we are looking at facts.

Also, our internal agenda guides our reactions and interactions.

It’s a cool picture but also almost creepy. I really like it.

I know. The feet look particularly large. Very strange.

I totally identify with 3, 6 & 8. I DO have OCD (and ADD-difficult mix), though. My kids don’t do anything either unless I ask them, repeatedly.

They say insanity is hereditary: You get it from your kids!

Amen to that. They should come up with a summer camp where kids go to learn how to be useful when they’re not in school. Maybe even throw in a lesson on common sense or manners.

Sign me (my kids) up for that one!

I know the exact same feeling! it can’t be OCD…no…

Hahaha. Definitely NOT! :)

1. I do not have OCD.
2. But…
3. I do like things in their place. When things are out of place, I cannot fully relax, and I like to straighten so I can really relax. It’s like a reward. Work before play. I can more fully relax and enjoy whatever I’m doing if I know everything is in order.
4. Does that make me OCD? It’s not an obsession… just a tendency.
5. I wish my kids would get just a LITTLE of this… Jesus. Please.
6. It’s like the shower and beer after mowing is so much more rewarding, and I think part of it is the sense of accomplishment that underlies the rest of the day.
7. If I were the odd couple, I would be Felix.
8. I don’t mind doing dishes and laundry, but if I’m in charge, I keep up with it so that these tasks are simple. I don’t like it to pile up.
9. I’m not in charge of anything. The kids are all assigned different chores.
10. They have the total opposite philosophy: Don’t do anything. Ever. Except play around and goof off.

I would love to know what position you assumed to take this picture. I make a fool of myself to get a good shot :)

I will try to explain: This green stuff was on a fence, and we were parked next to it. When we got in the car, I noticed it, and hopped out, and crouched down right next to the fence, in kind of a half crouch, right up next to the whole mess.  I probably looked like an idiot, but I disconnected my concern for my looks from my brain way back in high school.
